The Literacy Site
I first discovered the Hunger Site about 4 years ago. I have tried to remember to click on it every day since. Of course, I go through forgetful phases, but I think the site is very important. Affiliated and linked to the Hunger Site has been an increasing amount of other important charity sites starting with the Rainforest Site, then the Breast Cancer Site, Child Health Site and Animal Rescue Site. Today I went to the the links and discovered the Literacy Site. The new site has the same M.O. (modus operandi) as the others.
The Literacy Site was founded to help promote literacy among children from low-income families nationwide. Partnering with First Book, the site makes books available to children around the country, giving many children their very first book. With the generous support of our sponsors, each click provides 1% of a book. Making books a part of a child’s life is the best way to encourage the love of reading.
How does the site work? Who pays for the books?
The site concept is a simple one. When you click on the “Give Free Books” button, you will see a page with ads for the site’s sponsors. All of the revenue from these ads — 100% — goes to our charity partner, First Book, to fund the distribution of books to the children who need them the most.
This funding can add up quickly. When more people click daily, more books are generated, and more children are launched on a lifetime of reading. The site’s success in providing books depends on the support of visitors like you. Please click every day and tell your friends, family and colleagues about The Literacy Site.
It takes just 3 minutes or less to click on each of these six sites. Please, bookmark and revisit them as often as possible!

So…these things are actually legitimate? Wow…I never knew. I’ll have to remember to visit them now!

A friend emailed me the link to the Animal Rescue site over a year ago. I’ve been clicking as often as I remember ever since.:)

LOL. No sweat. I was all excited when I saw 4 comments!
Yeah, they are legit. Like I said, I have been clicking on the Hunger Site for 4 years.
Joan, I think all the sites are important, but I hope you click on the other ones too!

I hadn’t noticed the other tabs until a couple months ago, but yes, I click on all the sites now. For those of you new to the sites, if you scroll down the page that appears after you click to “donate,” there are buttons to take you directly to the other sites so you don’t have to use the “back” button in your browser. Just something I only recently discovered…

Indeed. I discovered that as well and should have mentioned it.
