Pesto

Making pesto is not easy. There aren’t a lot of ingredients, but it takes supreme patience. An entire grocery bag of basil condensed to less than two cups. Start the blender for two seconds, stop, push everything down, start the blender, stop, repeat 407 times. And no, the Pampered Chef chopper wasn’t going to cut it for the whole thing. It was nice on the nuts and garlic, but wasn’t really handling all that basil so well. And yes, there’s an element of enjoyment to beating the hell out of things in that little chopper, but after a while, your shoulders just get sore. I love pesto, but it’s hard to say whether it was worth the work, especially when I am giving most of it away. Well, for that reason I guess it IS worth it. And the fact that I have now made pesto – an honorable life experience.
